LIZ KELLY
Resilience Planning & Design
Focus: Creating an Ecological, Multi-Functional, and Abundant Backyard Oasis
Liz is a professional ecological designer and planner based in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire.  She works for Resilience Planning & Design LLC., a consulting firm in Plymouth, NH focused on developing municipal plans and site designs that promote community resilience and sustainable development. She is also an adjunct teacher at Plymouth State University.  She holds a M.S. in Ecological Design from the Conway School of Landscape Design and has significant Permaculture Design training and experience. She currently serves as the Board President for the Permaculture Association of the Northeast. In her work, she strives to create abundant, low-maintenance landscapes that mimic natural ecosystems, produce food, increase biodiversity, and create wildlife habitat.

Master Class Description
Will Bonsall, a farmer in Maine, once wrote: “Gardens have no borders. Rather, they are more akin to a pebble dropped in water. What many perceive as borders is merely the innermost ripple.”

Our gardens have the powerful potential to serve both our needs and the needs of other species and the environment. They are responsive and connected to our surrounding native ecosystems from the songbirds that visit our backyards to the rainfall that eventually makes its way back to our waterways. In this talk, you will learn strategies for creating “backyard ecosystems” that provide beauty, outdoor living space, wildlife habitat, food, and more. Topics covered include permaculture design, edible landscaping, supporting pollinators, maximizing biodiversity, and building healthy soil.

BRANDON MCMILLAN
Celebrity Dog Trainer and Emmy Winning Host of Lucky Dog on CBS
Focus: A Pet Safe Backyard

Brandon McMillan is a professional animal trainer who has spent his entire life learning about and working with all types of animals—from household pets to the wildest of untamed beasts.

Born into a family of animal entertainers, McMillan has been training animals since he was a baby. Thanks to his father and uncle who gave him the skills and techniques to train animals of every kind, McMillan developed an attachment to these animals at an early age. He jokes that he’s been “picking up animal poop” as far back as he can remember, but his early years around the animal performers certainly gave him valuable skills that he uses often in his current career as a Los Angeles -based animal trainer for film and television. McMillan is frequently hired by Hollywood’s top A-list celebrities to transform their out of control pooches into well-mannered dogs. Although McMillan has a diverse background with wild animals, his hidden passion lies with dogs. He is very well known for rescuing dogs on death row, then turning them into well-trained pets, service animals and sometimes, even movie stars. “Over 1.5 million dogs are euthanized every year in America because they can’t find homes. I’m just doing my part.” says McMillan.

“My school was the school of hard knocks,” he says. “All my educational background is from 100% experience in the field–no books, no classrooms.” When asked if he feels he’s garnered a sixth sense because of all his interactive animal experience, Brandon replies with an emphatic, “No!” He doesn’t see it that way. “I don’t have any special powers, just cut and dry experience. Having a sixth sense won’t teach an animal anything. Experience will.”

The following year GCG expanded to new cities and towns.

GCG has worked with hundreds of businesses, schools, restaurants, and homeowners in throughout the northeast. We have developed custom technologies for season extension, and a state-of-the-art rooftop farming system in collaboration with green roofing company
